Thermostatic mixer valves (TMVs) are used in a wide variety of applications, such as for restaurants, nursing homes, pre-schools and commercial systems. TMVs require servicing and maintenance at intervals no greater than 12 months under the current legislation.
WHY ARE TMVS USED?
Water heaters heat and keep water at very high temperatures to keep bacteria such as Legionella from forming, but if that water comes in contact with your skin straight from the heater, third-degree burns can occur in a matter of seconds.
Thermostatic mixer valves regulate water temperatures going to faucets, keeping the appropriate amount of hot and cold water together to maintain a safe, comfortable temperature.
Without a well-maintained and functioning TMV, there is a risk of thermal shock, scalding and other dangers.
